Why is there a selection event as part of the application process for the Expert by Experience training?

We do not want to make selections based solely on application forms; instead, we interview all applicants personally. This takes place as an on-site group interview, where each applicant has the opportunity to present themselves. We also assess collaboration skills through group tasks, as the ability to work in a group is an essential quality for an Expert by Experience—one that can be utilized and further developed.

A diverse group is formed from individuals with different backgrounds and experiences. We aim to ensure appropriate timing by confirming that applicants have enough distance from challenging experiences and demanding emotions, and that those recovering from substance use disorders have maintained at least one year of sobriety.

In recent years, we have received more applications than there are available training places. If you are not selected the first time, we encourage you to apply again, as this demonstrates perseverance and motivation.

Overall, it is good to remember that the application process itself, including interviews, is part of the journey toward becoming an Expert by Experience.
