Working at Niemikoti Foundation
We take care of our employees’ well-being and opportunities for professional growth, and we take our responsibilities as an employer seriously. As society changes and knowledge grows, we continuously develop our ways of working. Below are the qualities we consider most important as an employer.

A Reliable Employer
Niemikoti Foundation is part of the City of Helsinki Group and a stable employer. Founded in 1983, the Foundation’s employees have an average employment relationship of 11.4 years.
Commitment to Development and Training
We continuously develop our services and operations together with service users. Innovative service models created by Niemikoti Foundation have also been adopted nationally. We invest in staff training in many ways, and all employees are offered regular group supervision. We also closely follow international trends in the field and are often the first in Finland to introduce new models that promote well-being.
Opportunities to Influence Your Work
Our employees have strong opportunities to influence their own work, and matters are discussed openly together. Shared issues of the Foundation are addressed in a cooperation group consisting of representatives from administration, employees, and service users. Niemikoti Foundation has a low-hierarchy organizational culture.
A Flexible Employer
We take employees’ needs and wishes into account, for example in work shift planning, training leave, and other individual arrangements. Despite the demanding nature of the work, our workplace atmosphere is relaxed, and we also know how to enjoy time together.
Meaningful Work
Our staff find their work highly meaningful. We support Helsinki residents living with mental health challenges – and feedback from client satisfaction surveys shows that we have succeeded in this mission.
Strong Values
Niemikoti Foundation is a non-profit organization. The Association for Finnish Work has awarded the Foundation the Social Enterprise Mark. We also place special emphasis on environmental matters – our environmental work has been recognized with the Helsinki Region Environmental Award. In our units, we apply the principles of safe space, and equality and diversity are core values in our everyday work.
Excellent Staff Benefits
Our employee benefits include Smartum culture and sports vouchers, comprehensive occupational health services, staff yoga, and a bicycle benefit.
