The second summer at Siltakylä Supported Housing has been full of warm moments and shared experiences. Many mornings began with admiring the flowers in the meadow and yard – especially the early summer tulips that brought color to everyday life. The sense of community was also visible in trying new things: we got to use our new grill for the first time and enjoyed a lovely day together with the group from Haaga.
Excursions enriched both daily life and the spirit. In September, residents of Siltakylä visited the beautiful surroundings of Hevossalmi in Laajasalo, at the Helsinki Association of Invalids, invited by the Neilikka Association. Later that month, Siltakylä residents went on a joint trip with the Myllypato rehabilitation unit to Kesäharju Activity Center in Iitti. The program included a visit to the Heinola Bird Sanctuary, a hike up to the scenic Hiidenvuori cliffs, and fishing at Vuolenkoski. Nature and doing things together are always great sources of joy and strength.
One of the summer’s highlights was when guests from Haapsalu visited Siltakylä by bus. “It was wonderful to have them here and share a moment of our daily life with them. The summer in Siltakylä was colorful, warm, and full of memories that will carry us well into autumn,” says Tiina Rauhala, the Senior Instructor of Siltakylä Supported Housing.
